Beaches of Meta

Meta’s beaches are undoubtedly among its greatest attractions.

Unlike many areas along the Amalfi Coast, where beaches can be rocky and indented, Meta’s are distinguished by their dark, almost black stretches of sand, a legacy of the volcanic activity of nearby Vesuvius, ideal for relaxing under the Mediterranean sun.

The calm, crystal-clear waters invite you to take a dip, while the soothing sound of the waves provides the perfect melody for a day at the beach. What’s more, the sheltered position of these beaches creates an intimate atmosphere, far removed from the hustle and bustle of more popular tourist destinations, offering visitors a true haven of peace.

This coastal town is characterised by two distinct localities: Meta Mare and Marina di Alimuri.

Meta Mare

Meta Mare encompasses a broad stretch of sandy shoreline, cleverly bisected by an array of vividly hued cabins, with the entire expanse adorned in a kaleidoscope of umbrellas.

One side of this coastal retreat boasts panoramic vistas of towering cliffs, while a protective breakwall encircles the sandy shore. The azure waters here gently deepen, rendering it an ideal destination for families with young children. Numerous concessionaires stand ready to offer umbrella and chair rentals, along with the option to access changing cabins for a daily fee.

Among these, the most renowned is Lido Marinella, a stalwart presence since 1959, offering not only umbrellas and sunbeds but also an assortment of amenities, including showers, a restaurant, a snack bar, a fully stocked bar, children’s recreational activities, kayak rentals, and much more. Their impeccable beachside service ensures that your relaxation beneath the umbrella is complemented by refreshments and more, all brought to you at your leisure.

Marina di Alimuri

Just beyond the tunnel in Meta di Sorrento lies the picturesque Marina di Alimuri.

This enclave features a pebble-strewn beach nestled beneath towering cliffs and welcomes visitors with its turquoise waters that open up to the expansive bay. A variety of dining establishments line the waterfront, offering a particularly enchanting experience at sunset. Marina di Alimuri also hosts several concessionaires, readily providing umbrella rentals and an array of services, including the inviting Golden Beach.
